This day involved crossing the border at Bavet. This border crossing can be difficult so their are no photos. But it was very easy. A policeman made a old lady sit with my bike so it would not get touched. She would not take any money but I insisted on her taking 100000 dong. About $4. Bavet on the Cambodian side of the border has a bit of a reputation with lots of casinos and KTV.
The first two photos show the last bridge I crossed in Vietnam. This is after crossing many on this journey. The third picture is the massive queue of trucks on the Cambodian side of the border waiting to cross. Bavet is not a nice border town so I was quickly out of there.a
Svay Rieng
Svay Rieng was a beautiful welcome back to Cambodia. It is a lovely town. A couple of nice bars and many good restaurants. I stayed in the Soben Laor Guesthouse for $14 per night.
Prey Basak Temple
This is a temple area near Svay Rieng. It was heavily bombed in the American War (that is what the Vietnam War is called in Vietnam). There are only a few ruins left and there has not been any archeological diggings. This may be the oldest temple site in Cambodia and is certainly pre-Buddhist. Possible even the 2nd Century.
It is also being used as a place of worship in this present day.
