Chau Doc (Unfinished)
Chau Doc is where the boat ride finishes. This is a modern town just inside the Vietnam border.. It is on one of the branches of the Mekong river. There is quite a lot to do in the town and it is worth spending a day or so there.
A bus to Ho Chi Minh leaves daily and the hotel has always organised this when needed.
Hotel
I stayed in the Little Saigon Hotel. It is on the edge of Chau Doc but Chau Doc is pretty small. The hotel cost $15.11. Well inside my budget. The hotel was great value for money and there are plenty of food places around. I had pork and rice washed down with a beer. Total cost $5.31.
The view from the back of the hotel is below. The hill contains a temple at the top which is well worth visiting. A chair lift takes you there.
Tra Su Forest
This is a large wetland forest.about 30 km out of Chau Doc. I visited this place on a previous visit to Chau Doc. Your hotel will organise the trip for you.
It is a great piece of forest and there are easy walking paths and boat trips. It did rain a bit while we were there.
