Phnom Sambok Pagoda
Phnom Sambok Pagoda dates from the 15th Century but is still in use today as a meditation centre and monastery. It is on the only hill in the region (that is what Phnom means) and requires walking up a series of staircases to reach the top.
There are many funeral stupas on the way and a wonderful array of statues depicting various parts of the life of Buddha and important parts of Buddhism. It is an impressive place and many photos were taken.
The temple is on one of the few hills in the area. The forest is very impressive which makes the view from the top quite limited. But glimpses of the Mekong did occur.
This is a very impressive place that is being extremely well looked after.
It was free to enter but a donation was sort of expected.
