This was a distance of 92 km. With Prey Sla being my ‘home’ town I was keen to get there. But a shortcut on Google maps turned into a “long cut”. That, poor quality roads and a head wind, meant a stop on the way. 

I stayed at the Royal Gold Guest House in Kamchay Mear for only $12 per night. The guesthouse was fine but the town was awful. Easily the worst place I stayed on the whole trip.  Being close to the border there were lots of KTVs but no other bars and nearly no restaurants.

I thought I would try my first experience of a KTV but just to get a room with a carton of beer was going to be $45. So I gave it a miss.
