Day 5 and more - Long An to Ho Chi Minh

This day I expected to be really easy cycling into Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon).

But it wasn’t. As I got closer to Saigon the traffic got more intense. It was difficult to get off busy roads as the area is crossed by many rivers so there are lots of bridges. Saigon traffic is crazy. In Cambodia it is slower and less rule bound. But in Vietnam everyone obeys the rules but it the lights change colour to green it is like a sprint to the finish line.

I stayed in Bui Vien Street which is the party area in District 1. My hotel was Duc Vuong Saigon. It was excellent. Great staff, breakfast included, and surprisingly quiet. They also made a great effort in making sure my bike was safely locked up.

I chose this area because the music is good, the food is good and there is lots to see and do.
